The act of giving is nothing new to Mickey and Lee Segal. It has been a part of their lives since their childhood, learning the importance of giving, family, and tradition from their parents at an early age. For over 25 years, the Segals have been involved in the mission of the American Cancer Society by giving of their time and their treasure, serving on the California board back in the early 2000s to now gifting The Society with $1.5 million to support ACS’s research in pancreatic cancer, the disease that took the life of Lee’s father.
Today you will find the Segals surrounded by family (three children and six grandchildren with another on the way) sitting around the dinner table on Sunday night discussing giving because, “It (giving) is an automatic discussion” at the Segal house.
“You get good results when you give,” said Mickey who has supported multiple non-profits, schools, local charities, and health systems over the years. “the more we give the more we seem to personally benefit from results of our gifts” said Mickey, as he continues to inspire and teach others to give by setting an example himself.
