Executive Vice President, Northeast Region
Sarah Wells is executive vice president of the American Cancer Society’s Northeast Region, which serves communities in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Ohio, and West Virginia.
As the Northeast Region’s senior- most executive, Sarah is responsible for driving the development and implementation of the American Cancer Society’s mission and revenue strategies across the 13 states. Sarah engages corporate executives, community partners, high-level donors, and leadership volunteers in furthering the fight against cancer.
Since joining the organization in 2000, Sarah has established herself as a dynamic, results-driven leader with extensive experience in both development and patient support. Sarah began her ACS career in cancer control and health initiatives, later transition to development-focused roles in community fundraising, major gifts, corporate partnerships and board development. Sarah has held various leadership positions, including Chief of Staff for Development at the enterprise and regional roles with the former North Central and current Northeast Region as Vice President of Ohio/West Virginia & Regional Development, Vice President of Community Engagement, Vice President of Distinguished Partners and Executive Director for the state of Ohio.
Sarah is known for her strategic vision and ability to foster collaboration both internally and externally. Her success across various roles is driven by a proven track record of building exceptional relationships with volunteer leaders, standing up impactful boards and other highly effective leadership groups, leading capital campaigns, developing best-in-class Distinguished Events, and driving exponential revenue growth. Sarah is a highly respected people leader who is known as much for her commitment to her teams as she is for her dedication to our vision of ending cancer as we know it, for everyone.
Sarah is a native of northeast Ohio and currently resides there with her husband, Ron, son, Will, and daughter, Ava. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and earned a Master of Science degree in health promotion management from American University.
