As a Senior Scientistt of Health Services Research in Surveillance & Health Equity Science (SHES), Jingxuan Zhao, PhD, MPH, collaborates with researchers both within and outside the American Cancer Society (ACS) to conduct cancer disparities research on social determinants of health, health insurance, and access to cancer care.
Zhao's research spans a broad spectrum of topics focused on cancer disparities, with particular research interest in incarceration and cancer care. Zhao has conducted studies examining incarceration and access to cancer care and cancer outcomes at individual, family, and community levels. Her work also focuses on health insurance disparities, including the effects of the Affordable Care Act and the growing disparities after the introduction of new high-costs therapies. She also actively collaborate with colleagues on topics on economic burden and financial hardship and cancer care.
Zhao received various awards, including the ASCO Conquer Cancer Merit Award from the ASCO annual meeting and the ASCO Quality Care Symposium.
