Nondiscrimination and Equal Opportunity Policy

Patient Programs and Services

The American Cancer Society is dedicated to providing equal opportunities to all qualified individuals in the operation of its programs and services regardless of race, color, religion, ethnic or national origin, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, veteran’s status, caregiver status, genetic information, or any factor that is a prohibited consideration under applicable law (“Protected Characteristic”).

Accessibility. In our ongoing commitment to meeting the needs of all our constituents, including those with disabilities, the American Cancer Society is dedicated to improving accessibility in our programs and services. Individuals who need disability accommodations to access Society programs and services are encouraged to call us at 1-800-227-2345 to request accommodations. Live online chat on cancer.org is also available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Central Time. Reasonable accommodations for individuals who meet eligibility requirements for programs and services will be provided free of charge. Additional information about accessibility resources is available here.

Interpreter/Translation Resources.  The Society’s National Cancer Information Center (NCIC) – the nationwide cancer help line and hub for information on ACS patient programs and services - has Spanish-speaking callers on staff, and a translation service is used for those who speak other languages. Individuals can call 1-800-227-2345 to receive assistance in their language.  Translation services for the NCIC are available free of charge.

Complaints. Individuals who believe that they have been unlawfully discriminated against based on a Protected Characteristic in connection with the Society’s programs or services can call 1-800-227-2345 to report their complaint. All complaints will be thoroughly investigated and resolved appropriately. The Society prohibits retaliation against any individual who reports discrimination or harassment or participates in an investigation of such report. The Director of NCIC Service Delivery serves as point of contact for all civil rights issues, including complaints.
